Support the "Safe Mines To Protect Our Water" Bill House Bill: HF0916; Senate Companion: SF0845 The 2009 legislative session presents an opportunity to protect those resources and our states financial health with legislation that regulates the development of copper-nickel mines. This form of mining known as acid mining or sulfide mining has never been done before in Minnesota, is very different from taconite mining, and has led to devastating environmental and financial consequences elsewhere in the country. A 2009 Minnesota Legislative Priority

Oppose Rep. Oberstar's HR 4292, Senators Klobuchar and Coleman's S 3411 Superior National Forest Land Adjustment Act of 2007-2008 This bill would force the sale of 6,700 acres of Superior National Forest public land to PolyMet, a Canadian mining company.  The main purpose of this bill is to remove  environmental protections from protected forest land near the BWCAW for a copper strip mine!
